Weekly Garbage Collection

Material in the brown (garbage) cart is picked up by automated trucks (driver does not get out of truck). All extra material is picked up by another truck. Please put the garbage cart and extra garbage out Monday night or by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Please place in Brown Garbage Cart:

  • Mixed trash
  • Plastic wrap & plastic bags
  • Broken toys & ceramics
  • Light bulbs, etc.
  • Bagged garbage & food waste
  • Styrofoam & other loose trash, etc.

Do not put the following items in the brown cart:

  • Yard waste
  • Recyclables
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Cardboard boxes
  • Construction materials

It is better to put bagged trash in the brown cart. Bags that are tied keep the carts clean. Loose garbage can be put in the brown cart.

Cart Placement

The arrows on the lid of the cart must point to the road

  • The garbage cart should be placed within 2 ft. of the street on one side of the driveway

Weekly Recycle Collection

While recycle is collected weekly, we recommend putting out your cart when full. Loose recycling must fit in the green (recycle) cart and is collected by automated trucks (driver does not get out of the truck). All extra recycle is collected by another truck. Bulk items collection will change in 2019.  In 2019, residents must call JOHNS office to schedule a bulky items pickup.  Residents may schedule one bulk items collection per week at no charge.

A bulk item collection includes multiple large bulky items that will not fit into the garbage cart.

Bulk items that are not “called in” in 2019 will not be collected.

Large and Extra Item Collection – ending December 31, 2018

Place all extra items including furniture, carpeting, large metal, large cardboard boxes (emptied and flattened) and appliances 6 ft. away from, not in front of, or next to the carts. Automotive batteries, tires (2 per home per month) drain oil (in sealed 1-5 gallon containers) should also be 6 ft. away from the carts. Extra paper or extra recycling should be bagged in clear plastic bags and placed at the road away from the carts.
