Mix it all together:

Johns Disposal Service provides single stream recycling. All recyclable material can be mixed together. Johns Disposal’s recycle process system sorts all recyclable material.

Containers:

  • Tin cans, steel cans, aerosol cans, dried paint cans
  • Glass bottles & jars
  • #1-7 plastic bottles or jugs with a twist top
  • Cartons (juice boxes, milk cartons)
  • Clean aluminum foil

Mixed paper:

  • Newspaper, magazines, books, mail, school/office paper
  • Brown corrugated cardboard (please flatten all boxes)
  • Gray chipboard (cereal & shoe boxes)
  • Brown paper bags

Shredded paper:

  • Please place in a clear plastic bag (this is the only exception that allows plastic bags in the recycling)

Please do not place the following in with your recycling:

  • Plastic bags & styrofoam of any kind
  • Toys
  • Yard waste
  • Other plastic
  • Trash
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Construction materials
  • Electronics
  • Tanglers (hoses, Christmas lights, rope, chain)

Cart Placement:

  • The arrows on the lid of the cart must point to the street
  • Handles and wheels should face away from the street
  • The garbage cart should be placed within 2ft of the street on one side of the driveway
  • The recycle cart should be placed within 2ft of the street on the other side of the driveway
  • Please keep 6ft of clearance between the carts and other objects, especially mailboxes and vehicles

Please place in the Green Recycle cart:

  • Please put in a secured clear plastic bag, and place in the Green cart. No other recycling should be placed in bags.

  • Yard waste
  • Trash
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Construction materials
  • Electronics
  • Clothing

Please do not put recycling in plastic bags. (see exception for shredded paper) Local clean sweep programs may offer alternative options for disposal of fluorescent light bulbs, household hazardous waste, pharmaceuticals & electronics.

Bulk / large item Collection:

Bulk garbage materials from the Town of Norway can be taken to the Waste Management Metro-Franklin landfill. This service is for RESIDENTIAL properties only. There is a limit of 2 yards of debris per visit. Excludes: Appliances, Electronics, Recyclables, Hazardous Waste and Liquid Materials.

Additionally, Johns Disposal can provide a curbside special pick up service for a small fee to the resident. Please call Johns Disposal for further information or to set up collection of large items, appliances, and recyclable materials. Excludes: Hazardous waste, liquid paint, bulk loose construction and cement/rocks/dirt.
