Garbage Collection Every Week:

Residents use new brown garbage cart for garbage collection. Please put garbage out the night before your collection or by 6:00am the morning of pick up.

Please place the following in the Brown Garbage cart:

  • Mixed trash
  • Plastic wrap & bags
  • Broken toys
  • Ceramics
  • Light bulbs
  • Bagged garbage & food waste
  • Styrofoam & other loose trash

Do not put the following items in the garbage:

  • Yard waste
  • Recyclables
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Cardboard boxes
  • Construction materials
  • Electronics

Local clean sweep programs may offer alternative options for disposal of fluorescent light bulbs, household hazardous waste, pharmaceuticals & electronics.

Cart Placement:

  • The arrows on the lid of the cart must point to the street
  • Handles and wheels should face away from the street
  • The garbage cart should be placed within 2ft of the street on one side of the driveway
  • The recycle cart should be placed within 2ft of the street on the other side of the driveway
  • Please keep 6ft of clearance between the carts and other objects, especially mailboxes and vehicles

 

Electronics can no longer be placed in the normal garbage, recycle carts or bulk items pick up.

Recycle Collection Every Other Week

Please place the following items in the Green Recycle Cart:

MIXED CONTAINERS

  • Aluminum cans & clean aluminum foil
  • Tin cans, steel cans, aerosol cans, empty/dried paint cans
  • Glass bottles & jars
  • #1-7 plastic bottles or jugs
  • Milk cartons, juice boxes, soup cartons

MIXED PAPER

  • Newspaper, magazines, books, mail, school/office paper
  • Brown corrugated cardboard (flattened)
  • Gray chipboard (cereal & shoe boxes)
  • Brown paper bags

SHREDDED PAPER

  • Please put in a secured clear plastic bag, and place in or next to the cart.

Do not put the following items in the green cart:

  • Styrofoam
  • Yard waste
  • Trash
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Construction materials
  • Clothing
  • Electronics

Johns Disposal is a registered collector of electronics for the state of Wisconsin. We would be happy to pick up your electronics for a fee, call John’s Disposal for arrangements.

Electronic Items Include:

  • Desktop computers, laptops
  • Printers, fax machines, scanners, copiers
  • Video display devices, monitors, televisions
  • Keyboards, mice, hard drives, flash drives, external modems & other computer devices
  • Fax machines
  • DVD, VCR, DVR & Video

E-Cycle Drop off sites:

  • American TV & Appliance stores
  • Best Buy stores
  • Select Good Will locations
  • Staples
  • Milwaukee PC

Note: Residents must call our office to schedule a bulk item collection.  Please call our office to schedule: 262-473-4700.  Large bulk items will not be collected if our office is not contacted.

Bulk Collection (Once Per Month):

  • Furniture & Appliances & Air conditioners
  • Humidifiers/De-humidifiers & Water softeners
  • Drain oil & antifreeze (sealed in 1-5 gallon containers)
  • Tires (2 per home per month – 8 per year)
  • Carpeting (no wider than 4ft and rolled)
  • Extra garbage bags or garbage in personal cans
  • Large metal items
  • Cardboard (flattened & empty)
  • Paper & other recyclables should be in clear plastic bags
  • Recycle carts are not emptied by bulk collection crews

Unacceptable items:

  • Yard waste
  • Hazardous materials & liquid paint
  • Electronics
  • Loose bulk construction materials

All items for bulk pick up should be placed within 2 feet of curbside and 6 feet from the garbage/recycling containers.

Collection Day:

The Town of Lima’s collection day is Wednesday.

Collection Schedule:

The new Brown Garbage cart is collected on a weekly basis. The recycle cart will be emptied every other week. The collection calendar provides information on what week recycle will be collected.
